UCSC Service
← HomeDuring my time in Santa Cruz, I attempted to engage with the broader community through the following activities.
Project for Inmate Education
I serve as a co-director for the Project for Inmate Education (PIE) since July 2023. We teach incarcerated persons courses on Pre-algebra, College algebra and Introduction to Astronomy at the Santa Cruz Main Jail.
Math Circles
- I was an active instructor with the Math Student Circle in Santa Cruz, held at Cabrillo College. I lead activities on Cryptography, Eulerian Circuits and the Four Colour Theorem.
- I was an active participant of the Math Teachers’ Circle at Santa Cruz, where I lead sessions on Gerrymandering.
I organised and assumed the following roles in service of supporting the mathematics community at UCSC.
Head TA
Since July 2022, I have served as a Head TA (now Teaching support and Administrative Coordinator) in the Mathematics Department, where we assist the department in supporting Graduate Teaching Assistants.
Peer Support Program
I've been co-organising the Math Department Peer Support Program since August 2021 where we support first-year graduate students in navigating the department and program milestones.
Directed Reading Program
I was an organiser of the Directed Reading Program - where we pair undergraduates with graduate students to work on a reading project - from Fall 2021, when I helped restart the program after a brief hiatus during the pandemic, to March 2025. I have participated as a mentor myself several times, and you can view the interesting topics my mentees and I have worked on here. You will also find my mentees and the topics they worked on from my time with Twoples.
Association for Women in Mathematics
I helped co-found the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) Chapter with Jennier Guerrero in November 2020, and served as its president in AY 2022-23.

Other Departmental Service
- I served as a study leader for the Prelim Study Sessions, where we supported graduate students preparing for the departmental preliminary exams. I served as a leader for all three subjects: Algebra (Winter 2025, Spring 2024, Summer 2023), Analysis (Spring 2025, Winter 2022, Summer 2022) and Geometry (Winter 2022, Summer 2022).
- I supported the organising of EmpowHER Hour, an AWM initiative (Spring 2022 - Spring 2023). This was a space where graduate students got together to hold meaningful discussions about gender equity in academia, and how one can help build a more inclusive mathematical community .
- I served as one of the founding Graduate Student representative on the Mathematics Department DEI Committee from Fall 2020 - Spring 2022.
